(NEXSTAR) – A tiny one-bedroom, one-bath house near Winooski Falls in Burlington is Vermont’s top-rated Airbnb, according to the company’s ranking of hosts in all 50 states.
Described as “a unique, artistic and brand new loft”, the Vermont River House is located 10 minutes from downtown Burlington and Lake Champlain. It has parquet floors, a small kitchen and a bathroom and a common outdoor area.
All of Airbnb’s “most hospitable” hosts have a five-star rating that rewards everything from cleanliness to check-in and communication. While getting a handful of perfect reviews is good, consistency is key: Each host needs a minimum of 100 reviews to be considered.
For states that had more than one incredible host, the tiebreaker went to the host with the most critics.
So how did these super hosts beat the thousands of others in their states? The secret sauce varies, apparently. Brian & Barb J. in Bloomington, Indiana, use wild flowers, homemade bread and personal notes to greet their guests and make their stays “magical and memorable”. Hawaiian host Gammy A. says sitting down with each guest to show them maps and share Maui tips and tricks makes a big difference.
At Vermont River House, maybe it’s the funky and artistic touches, which include large paintings and a few smaller works by local artists. The house, which is attached to a single-family home, has all the comforts of home, according to the host.
