The culinary team at Vermont Creamery intended to develop flavors that would elevate the consumer experience beyond a chewy dip, leaning on robust condiments and high-quality stand-alone ingredients to bridge the gap. . Drawing inspiration from slow smoking, charcoal cooking, and fire roasting with different woods and preparations, they developed hundreds of flavor concepts before narrowing down the field. The team tested the best concepts on a variety of foods and selected two finalists.
The new flavors, designed to complement Latin-inspired dishes and potatoes, cover 70% of sour cream use occasions. Specifically, Coriander Lime is an ideal pairing for spicy dishes, providing a cool and refreshing counterpoint to the heat of tacos, chili, and cheese quesadillas with hot sauce. It can be used as a garnish or as a base to create a dipping sidekick for your favorite dishes. Fire Roasted Onion & Chives embodies a savory sweetness with smoky and toasted notes that is the perfect complement to loaded potatoes, chips, chilies and stews. Vermont Creamery’s cultured sour cream will first launch in the northeast from September 2021, where the premium sour cream category is experiencing strong growth and growing nearly three times that of non-premium products. The launch program will include social media initiatives to increase awareness with videos, influencer sourcing and a virtual tasting event, in addition to in-store exhibits and post-engagement programs.
