UT completes Big Ten Invitational

SARASOTA, FL – Tennessee Rowing picked up two third-place finishes to wrap up the final day of the Big Ten Invitational at Nathan Benderson Park.

“This weekend’s race was of a high caliber: exactly what we needed at this point in our development,” said the head coach. Lisa Glenn mentioned. “We won some hard races and learned a lot on our last trip to the course; lessons that we will continue in the next part of the season. Thank you to host Wisconsin and the Big Ten programs and volunteers for having set up Grand Event.”

In the day’s only session, the 18th-ranked Lady Vols faced No. 10 Duke, No. 20 Indiana and Minnesota. UT’s first and second eight varsity boats both placed third in close races.

The 1V8 posted its fastest mark of the weekend at 6:29.800, beating Minnesota but narrowly falling to the Hoosiers (6:23.257) and Blue Devils (6:24.984). Madeleine Walsh crossed out the range of Emma Seawright, Natalia Loram, Kathleen Rice, Jaime Armitage, Reagan Long, Lindsey Morrisset, Sidney Pardy and Erin Gifford during the race.

In the 2V8 race, UT crossed the finish line in 6:39.137 to defeat Minnesota and finish within eight seconds of Duke’s best time (6:31.821). The group was led by Elizabeth Walley and featured Haley Savastano, Katherine Schildmeyer, Casey Chronoster, Riley Ferdelmann, Kayla Anderson, Logan Yates, Paige Reyman and Alyssa Biernat.
