Minnesota Duluth got a third goaltender for the 2022-23 season through the transfer portal.

Czech national team goaltender Blanka Skodova will join the Bulldogs as a graduate transfer after playing four seasons for Vermont. She posted a .900 save percentage and 1.99 goals-against average in 11 games a year ago as a senior and leaves the Catamounts with a .901 save percentage and goals-against average 2.30 in 53 career games.

Skodova, who last played for Czechia in 2020, has played a substitute role in three of his four seasons at Vermont. She will likely play that role again with Swedish Olympian Emma Soderberg returning to UMD for a fifth season in 2022-23 after supporting the Bulldogs in the NCAA Championship game a year ago at Penn State.

The Bulldogs are also recruiting first-year goaltender Hailey Macleod, who was part of the Canadian team that recently won gold at the 2022 IIHF World Women’s Under-18 Championship in Madison, Wisconsin.

UMD lost two goalies at the transfer gate this spring after Soderberg decided to return to the Bulldogs for a fifth season. Sophomore Jojo Chobak — who filled the starter role for Soderberg in the 2022 Olympics in Beijing and beyond — has moved to St. Cloud State, and rookie Holly Gruber has moved to Clarkson.
