Two pedestrians killed in Minnesota


Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News) – The Minneapolis Police Department is investigating a fatal hit-and-run.

It was reported around 1:20 a.m. and resulted in the death of a woman who appeared to be in her 40s. She was pronounced dead at the scene near the intersection of Lake Street and Bloomington Avenue. The name of the victim was not disclosed.

A press release says she was struck by a dark colored sedan. Authorities say the driver has fled and investigators are working to locate the vehicle and the motorist.

Meanwhile, the Minnesota State Patrol is reporting the death of a pedestrian who was struck by a minibus on Friday night in east-central Minnesota. Authorities say the victim, Jennifer Cottrell, 63, was killed when she was struck by a van driven by a 71-year-old Stanchfield man.

State Patrol said the woman was struck by the vehicle as she attempted to cross Highway 95 in Cambridge just before 9 p.m. The accident report does not contain any information on the victim’s place of residence.
