Tennessee football Vols Week 7 NFL recap: Darrell Taylor warms up

A group of former Tennessee football players returning from a week off should have meant more standout stars, but while many former Vols played meaningfully in Week 7 of the NFL season, they did not make enough of a splash. However, there are still multiple injuries to key players, and that’s going to hold UT back for a bit longer.

In the meantime, a few consistent stars are beginning to emerge. There are three stars this week, and two of them are repeat stars. One of them is a seasoned superstar in the pros, and the other is starting to emerge after taking a bit of time to develop over the past two years.

As usual, we’ll separate these players by stars, those who played significantly, those who saw limited action, and those who were injured. More played this week than last week. Let’s start with the former Tennessee football players who haven’t played due to injury in our recap of former Pro Flights for Week 7 of the 2022 NFL season.

Some Tennessee football volunteers are starting to stand out more consistently in the pros.

Old Flights that were goodbye

Theo Jackson – DB – Minnesota Vikings

The Titans’ sixth-round Vols draft pick is still waiting to see his first action. However, the Minnesota Vikings, the new team Theo Jackson signed with, got a bye last week, so he wasn’t going to play.

Past Flights that have not played

Joshua Dobbs – QB – Cleveland Browns

Jacoby Brissett’s replacement as the Cleveland Browns are still waiting for Deshaun Watson to recover, Joshua Dobbs has yet to play this year. He was on the bench again as the Cleveland Browns lost 23-20 to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.

Matthew Butler – DT – Las Vegas Raiders

No injuries were reported, but Tennessee’s fifth-round football pick by the Las Vegas Raiders was out of action on Sunday. Matthew Butler watched the Raiders beat the Houston Texans 38-20.

On training teams

Micah Abernathy – DB – Green Bay Packers
