Second driver dies in Minnesota motorcycle crash


Coon Rapids, MN (KROC-AM News) – The second driver involved in a fatal motorcycle accident in the Twin Cities area on Tuesday night has died.

The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office said early indications show a motorcycle, driven by Joesph Heim, 37, of Ham Lake, was traveling south on Hanson Blvd NW in Coon Rapids at high speed when he crashed into a car leaving 129th Lane NW on Hanson Blvd around 8:45 p.m.

Heim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car has been identified as Nicholas Wivinus, 40, of Coon Rapids. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The the sheriff’s office announced on Thursday Wivinus died of his injuries in hospital on Tuesday evening.

“The resulting loss of two lives is absurdly tragic, and we send our condolences to their two grieving loved ones,” said Anoka County Sheriff James Stuart. “The recent increase in crashes and fatalities in Anoka County is certainly concerning, and we will continue to encourage our community to adopt safe driving habits while holding accountable those who do not follow the road.”

The accident is still under investigation.
