Dan Orlovsky was pulling a Joe Montana when he ran out of endzone [Video]

When you think of the old Detroit Lions strategist Dan Orlovskyit doesn’t take you long to remember when he ran into the back of the end zone against the Minnesota Vikings during the Lions’ 0-16 season in 2008.

Since that moment, Orlovsky has been constantly mocked and trolled daily on social networks.

In fact, Orlovsky once said that he was the “poster boy” of the Lions 0-16 team.

“I’m still the poster boy, unfortunately,” Orlovsky said in 2017. “And the good thing for me is that I have super thick skin and I don’t really run away, so it’s not hard for me to talk about in quotes because of those aspects.

“I don’t think about it much. That’s not how I remember myself. But it’s not like one of those things where you can get a DUI offense as a teenager and it gets removed from your record if you do a bunch of community service. It’s a forever thing for me.

During a 2017 interview with Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, Dan Orlovsky said he was “an idiot” on the part.

“Ask any quarterback, more often than not you catch a snap and you get pressure, either you immediately go up in the pocket or you run with some depth to the right or left depending on the where the pressure is,” Orlovsky said. “And my pressure was coming from my left hip so it was just my natural reaction to run with some depth away from her and by the time I took three or four steps I’m obviously way out of bounds and unconscious just because I was an idiot at the time. That’s kind of how it happened.

But if Orlovsky could have told everyone that he was trying to emulate one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, Joe Montana.

As you can see in the video below, Montana once ran out from behind the end zone for a safety in the 1987 NFL Pro Bow.

1987: Pro Bowl Week – @danorlovsky7 ran out of bounds of a safety and everyone reminds him of that daily. Meanwhile @JoeMontana does it in the 1987 Pro Bowl as Jacob Green and Bruce Smith chase him and no one bats an eyelid. It’s unfair Dan. https://t.co/eK0PvUrZ00

Ok obviously getting out of the end zone as Montana in the Pro Bowl is a lot different than what Dan Orlovsky did in a regular season game but it shows that even the greats have a cerebral fart from time to time !

Free Dan Orlovski!!!!
